Rules Discussion 2016 guidelines

Post by AeonsAblaze » Sat Jan 09, 2016 11:01 pm

Post Copied from old forum.
Salutations Wasters.

We aren't doing them right this moment but when we do, we're going to follow Rob's Rules of organization. They can be found below.

"If I may be so bold, rules discussions tend to get sidetracked a LOT, and so stuff will fall by the wayside or just get forgotten about. For what we're looking at doing, that's really, really bad.

May I suggest the following organizational structure for our rules discussion this year?

EVERYBODY POST YOUR TOP 3 RULES ISSUES IN THIS THREAD.

1)
2)
3)

AFTER WE'VE GOTTEN 15 RESPONSES OR WHEN N8/LITTLE JOHN SAYS TO DO SO, TALLY UP THE VOTES FOR EACH ISSUE.

THE TOP 3 MOST POPULAR ISSUES ARE DISCUSSED FIRST. N8 OR LITTLE JOHN WILL CLOSE THE DISCUSSION OF EACH OF THOSE ISSUES ONCE THEY'RE HEARD ENOUGH OR AFTER 2 WEEKS HAVE PASSED, AND WE MOVE ON TO THE NEXT THREE MOST POPULAR ISSUES.

...AND SO FORTH UNTIL EVERYONE'S ISSUES HAVE BEEN BROUGHT UP FOR DISCUSSION.

This makes sure everyone gets their voices heard, and that there's not a giant mess of 20 different topics pulling everyone between them and dividing focus like we're all there in the same room talking at once.

(And while the plural of anecdote is not "data", nobody's actually got "data" in the first place, so everyone's anecdotes have the same validity.)

If you feel this is a reasonable way to handle the discussions this time, please post up your desired Top 3."

At current I can't even think of 3 things.
1) Airsoft
2) Weapon standards
As all of this happened, Bill poured a drink.

I can think of two right now:

1) Spending NPC karma (this perhaps goes with Plot's #1?)
2) New skills review

I like the sound of these two:
1) Buying Karma
2) Staggered Karma Gains
And adding a third (discussed in previous years) item:
3) Jury Rigging.

I know the OP specified naming 3 things but I've got another one I would like to add:

4) Should double-hooking be mandatory?
4b) Flip side of this coin: Allowing full time NPCs to bring their PC character in for one mod of their choice per game (something I've seen in a few other larps)
